Restoration Continues in Conjunction with Local Project Manager, Allison Springfield
As of December 2020, Project Manager, Allison Springfield, has worked closely with affiliate designers, consultants, and preservationists in the multi-phased restoration of Clayborn Temple. In her capacity as Project Manager and an active member of the organization’s Building Committee, Springfield leads initiatives related to construction coordination and fiscal management. Prioritizing the architectural integrity of the church, Springfield upholds the guidelines set forth by the National Park Services for the conservation and restoration of historically significant structures.
Allison Springfield is a Memphis native, holding a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from Clemson University. Calling her transition into the profession of Project Management a “natural progression”, Springfield finds motivation in working collaboratively with both colleagues and clients, understanding that a high-functioning, well-organized team is essential to accomplishing the creative vision of any architectural program. Working on a large-scale project as delicate as that of Clayborn Temple, Springfield finds the process to “restore and repurpose such a significant space to its former self that will be enjoyed by present and future generations highly gratifying”.
When asked why the restoration of Clayborn Temple was a unique project, Springfield replied, “the vision the owner has for the building is palpable, and having this feeling compels you to want to exhibit this through the meticulous caring for the bones and skin of the structure to recommission its purpose to the community.” Her professionalism aligns with the organization’s mission to not only restore and protect the historical integrity of Clayborn Temple itself, but to also reanimate its purpose as an instrument of public action through social innovation, economic justice, and community transformation. Historic Clayborn Temple is privileged to work in collaboration with Springfield and looks forward to her leadership as the developments of our project continue to progress.
